FREEDOM from Irrational Fears, Phobia, & anxiety

Both Fear and courage are products of our imagination. YOUR imagination is the key to making permanent changes in your life.

If you have a phobia, you probably realize that your fear is irrational, yet you still can’t control your feelings. Just thinking about the feared object or situation may make you anxious. And when you’re actually exposed to the thing you fear, the terror is automatic and overwhelming. The experience is so nerve-wracking that you may go to great lengths to avoid it—inconveniencing yourself or even changing your lifestyle.

Understanding your phobia is the first step to overcoming it. It’s important to know that phobias are common. (Having a phobia doesn’t mean you’re crazy!) It also helps to know that phobias are highly treatable. No matter how out of control it feels right now, you can overcome your anxiety and fear and start living the life you want.

Cognitive Hypnotherapy can allow the feeling of fear to subside to easily managed levels. A common method called systematic desensitization involves slowly exposing subjects to fearful situations. This involves Hypnosis and relaxation training, Building a hierarchy, Gradual exposure to feared situations

Obsessive & Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Obsessions are thoughts, images, or impulses that occur over and over again and feel out of the person’s control. The person does not want to have these ideas. He or she finds them disturbing and unwanted, and usually knows that they don’t make sense. Compulsions are Repetitive behaviors or thoughts that a person engages in to neutralize, counteract, or make their obsessions go away. I help the clients to change patterns of thinking, beliefs and behaviors that may trigger anxiety and obsessive compulsive symptoms using. I use combination of CBT (exposure and response prevention) and hypnotherapy to give the best of both the therapies and get more long lasting results.

RISE ABOVE Depression

If you are going through a difficult life transition, feeling persistent sadness, anxious, or empty mood, irritability, hopelessness or helplessness, then I want you to know that help is available. I’m here to help you. I can help you with highly personalized psychotherapy & Cognitive hypnotherapy which is evidence based approach. Together we can focus on addressing both the negative thought patterns and the behaviors that contribute to depression and work on the root cause of the problem.

According to the research, In clinical depression amygdala, thalamus & hippocampus are the parts of the brain that may get affected. It was found that activity in the amygdala is higher when a person is sad or clinically depressed. The hippocampus is smaller in some depressed people, and research suggests that ongoing exposure to stress hormone impairs the growth of nerve cells in this part of the brain. But the good news is that psychotherapy combined with Cognitive behavior therapy can alter the brain functions. By repeated CBT training, the brain reinforces the neural pathways, so it becomes easier and easier to deal with future stressful situations.

OVERCOME Stress, Trauma, PTSD,

According to the American Psychological Association (APA), trauma is “an emotional response to a terrible event like an accident, rape, or natural disaster.” Everyone’s reaction to potentially traumatic experiences is different. However, a person may experience trauma as a response to any event they find physically, or emotionally threatening or harmful.

After a trauma, it is common to struggle with fear, anxiety and sadness. You may have upsetting memories or find it hard to sleep. Most people get better with time. But if you have PTSD, these thoughts and feelings don’t fade away. They last for months and years, and may even get worse. PTSD causes problems in your daily life, such as in relationships and at work. It can also take a toll on your physical health. In PTSD your brain gets stuck in danger mode. Even after you are no longer in danger, it stays on high alert. Your body continues to send out stress signals and release stress hormones which can lead to PTSD.

According to American Psychiatric Association, Psychotherapy and cognitive behavior therapies (CBT) are very effective in treating trauma. Cognitive processing therapy, prolonged exposure therapy and stress inoculation therapy are among the types of CBT used to treat PTSD.

As a therapist I can help you to modify painful negative emotions (such as shame, guilt, etc.) and beliefs due to the trauma, overcome distressing memories and emotions, help to face and gain control of fear & distress and help you to learn to cope stressful situations.

HEAL grief & loss

At some point in everyone’s life, we encounter with grief. It may be from the death of a loved one, the loss of a job, the end of a relationship, or any other change that alters life like the pandemic.

The five stages of grief are: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance by Elizabeth Kübler-Ross. As each individual is different, each one will experience all five stages differently and may not even go through them in this order or experience only some stages.

Feelings of grief are a normal response to loss but in many cases, the grieving process can become stuck, leaving the person in a state of what is known as Complicated or Traumatic Grief. Common symptoms of complicated grief can include distressing intrusive thoughts, excessive feelings of guilt, aloneness, isolation and yearning, sleep disturbance, loss of interest in previously pleasurable activities, and attempts to avoid any reminders of the trauma or loss.

I want you to know that you are not alone and it is ok to feel like this and help is available. I am here to listen and support you in this difficult time of your life to help you to move on, heal your painful emotions.

JOY of Pregnancy & Motherhood

Joy of Pregnancy & Motherhood

Mothers are the backbone of the family. Motherhood is one of the most fundamental transformations we go through as a woman. Being a mother changes everything.

Parenthood brings powerful identity changes and conflicting emotions like love, protectiveness, joy, nurturing, exhaustion, confusion, anger and apathy. If you are a mother who is feeling frustrated, finding it difficult to manage emotions and balance work & family, then I can help you.

During Pregnancy, our whole body & mind goes through various changes to facilitate a new life. Research shows that Pregnancy is associated with pronounced and long-lasting changes in the structure of women’s brains. This phase can be very challenging for some women with mood swings, sleep issues, frequent emotional outburst, stress & physical pain/ discomfort.

Emotional wellbeing of the mother is very important as it is also impacts the growth of the baby. The growing baby is exposed to everything what the mom is experiencing, which also includes stress. Positive thoughts & emotions during pregnancy can heal and nurture a healthier baby, which is well supported by the research. I can help you to have relaxing and peaceful pregnancy.

BREAK FREE from Habits

Habits are routine behaviors done on a regular basis. They are recurrent and often unconscious patterns of behavior and are acquired through frequent repetition. Many of these are unconscious as we don’t even realize we are doing them.  It creates a huge influence in how you expect to behave, think and feel. Bad habits start as a conscious process and with repetition they become unconscious. I help clients with the unwanted habits like, smoking, nail biting, procrastination, gambling, disordered eating, procrastination, perfectionism etc.

With Hypnotherapy & mindfulness it is possible to rewire your brain which neuroscientists call neuroplasticity which is the ability of the brain to form new connections and pathways and change how its circuits are wired. It is possible to change its own structure through thought and application of new activity, and creating new productive habits. Hypnotherapy can identify the cause of your bad habit, reprogram your negative thought patterns, and work with the underlying needs of the bad habit

MAKE PEACE with your food & body
Our body reacts to stressful situations by losing control on eating behaviors which can cause destructive mental and behavioral patterns like Anorexia, Bulimia or Obesity. These health conditions are marked by an obsession with food or body shape.
EATING DISORDER
Grogan (1999) defined body image as a person’s perceptions, thoughts and feelings about his or her body, which incorporates appearance, body size, shape and attractiveness. Concern about our bodies is normal and allows us to have healthy body awareness. However, excessive bodily concern can lead on to an abnormal focus and can result in bodily obsession or body dysmorphic disorder (Webster’s Dictionary 2008).
What can trigger Eating disorders?

  1. Negative emotions like anger, loneliness, boredom, anxiety, etc.
  2. Stress
  3. The restrictions we pose on ourselves either mental restriction or caloric restriction
  4. Cognitive distortions
  5. Self Esteem / Low body Image.

WEIGHT CONTROL
Hypnotherapy can be a very useful tool dealing with weight control issues. It can be used to help clients to re-programme their unconscious attitude to food and also to place less importance to food in relation to their feelings of well-being. Hypnotherapeutic suggestions can be used to increase the appeal of healthy foods and enhance the sensory experience of eating. It is also a useful tool to help to reduce negative self-image and boost positive body image.

GET RID OF Irritable Bowel

Your gut has capabilities that surpass all your other organs and even rival your brain. It has its own nervous system, often referred to in the media as the “second brain.” This second brain is made up of 50-100 million nerve cells, as many as are contained in your spinal cord. The immune cells residing in your gut make up the largest component of your body’s immune system; in other words, there are more immune cells living in the wall of your gut than circulating in the blood or residing in your bone marrow
The gut is also the largest storage facility for serotonin in our body. Ninety five percent of the body’s serotonin is stored in these warehouses. Serotonin is a signaling molecule that plays a crucial role within the gut-brain axis: It is not only essential for normal intestinal functions, such as the coordinated contractions that move food through our digestive system, but it also plays a crucial role in such vital functions as sleep, appetite, pain sensitivity, mood, and overall well-being.
The gut is connected to the brain through thick nerve cables that can transfer information in both directions and through communication channels that use the bloodstream: hormones and inflammatory signaling molecules produced by the gut signaling up to the brain, and hormones produced by the brain signaling down to the various cells in the gut, such as the smooth muscle, the nerves, and the immune cells, changing their functions. Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, our GI tract, enteric nervous system, and brain are in constant communication. And this communication network may be more important for your overall health and well-being than you ever could have imagined
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a long term gastrointestinal disorder that can cause persistent discomfort
The symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome:

  • Abdominal pain for at least three months. It can be present continuously, but more often it is intermittent (on and off over time). The pain is relieved with a bowel movement.
  • Increased frequency of bowel movements when the pain occurs. Alternatively, infrequent bowel movements (constipation) may be experienced at other times
  • Increased looseness of the stool when the abdominal pain is felt. At other times, the stool form may be hard or constipated
  • A sensation of incomplete emptying of the rectum after going to the bathroom.
  • A bloated or distended feeling in the abdomen.

How Does Stress Affect the Gut?
Emotions can have a profound effect on the gut and the microbial environment in the form of gut reactions. A negative emotional state will throw the gut-microbiota-brain axis out of balance in several ways. It makes your gut leakier, it activates your gutbased immune system, and it triggers endocrine cells in the gut wall to release signaling molecules such as the stress hormone norepinephrine and serotonin. It can also reduce important members of your gut microbial communities, in particular lactobacilli and bifidobacteria. These can profoundly change the behavior of gut microbes.
The ability of hypnosis to help some people with irritable bowel suggests that the brain may be one mechanism causing irritable bowel symptoms to be more severe. Hypnosis helps to lessen our response to outside influences, therefore modulating the overreaction in the brain response that triggers irritable bowel.
Wilson et al (2006) searched a number of electronic databases and found 20 studies that matched the inclusion criteria; 18 trials and two case series. All papers showed that hypnotherapy had a beneficial effect on IBS symptoms. A total of 56% of the trials showed significant effects, while 83% of the controlled trials (the most methodical design) also showed significant effect.

ALLEVIATE your pains

Pain that persists for longer than 6 months is referred to as chronic pain . Chronic pain is more than a physical symptom. Its continuous presence creates widespread manifestations of suffering, including preoccupation with pain; limitation of personal, social, and work activities; demoralization and affective disturbance; increased use of medications and of health care services; and a generalized adoption of the “sick role” (Parsons, 1958) . Living with chronic pain requires considerable emotional resilience as it depletes people’s emotional reserves. In the presence of chronic pain, the continuing quest for relief often remains elusive, which can lead to feelings of demoralization, helplessness, hopelessness, and outright depression.

People with persistent pain often have negative expectations about their own ability and responsibility to exert any control over their pain and they avoid activities that they believe will exacerbate their pain or contribute to additional injury (Vlaeyen, Kole-Snijders, Boeren, & Van Eek, 1995; see Vlaeyen et al. there are now an adequate number of controlled studies of hypnosis to draw meaningful conclusions from the literature regarding chronic pain. In meta-analysis of the efficacy of cognitive-behavioral methods for pain control, imagery/hypnosis demonstrated the strongest positive effects across studies with various types of pain (Fernandez & Turk, 1989).
